Blog Post: Day 2 in Beijing / Great Wall & Ming Tombs
Our day began bright and early when we went to Starbucks (yes, there is one directly across from our hotel—it called to us!) We met up with our tour guide, and then we headed to the Ming Tombs. It was really neat to see all of the statues and treasures from the Emperors. There is so much history and you can just feel it when you walk around the Tomb.
The next stop was to have an authentic Chinese meal for lunch. We had Hot and Sour soup, beef, sweet and sour pork, and vegetables and rice. It was AMAZING! The food was so good and I was like, how am I going to go back to having Chinese food in the US after this? Kristin and I then did some shopping and got lots of souveniers for our friends and family.
The next top—the Great Wall! It took us about 30 minutes to get there from the Ming Tombs, and it was really amazing to see it in person. One of the things that I told Kristin as we were climbing up the Great Wall is that I thought that whoever invented the Stairmaster must have been Chinese. Why do I say this? Well, because it is the ultimate stair workout for sure! But it was well worth it!!!!! And of course, I had to take a picture when some Jenny Craig food. J
After we recovered from our major workout up and down the Great Wall, we went to a tea house and had traditional Chinese tea. Quite tasty—I really enjoyed it! It was an eventful day and tomorrow I will be registering for the Reputation Institute Conference and I then present on Friday. It is all coming up so fast! I guess that happens when you are having fun!
Hope you all are having a great day!
Best Karen 🙂
