Happy Independence Day! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July – I certainly did! Independence Day is a day where we celebrate America’s birthday and our day of independence. It is also a time to thank those who have served and are currently serving our country bravely in the armed forces. I had the pleasure to be with two amazing individuals this past weekend to celebrate the Fourth of July with that have served (my friend Sabrina) and is currently serving (my sister Kristin) in the Army. This past weekend, my friend Sabrina and I headed out to see Kristin in Charlottesville, Virginia for the holiday weekend. It was really great to be out in VA since this would be the first time that I have gotten the chance to see Kristin’s place since she moved and started at UVA this past spring.
Our time in Charlottesville was absolutely fabulous! Kristin was an excellent hostess and we really got a chance to see the town and college. UVA is a very pretty city – you can definitely see the resemblance of the buildings to those of Monticello. We were also very educational on our weekend adventures by hiking up to see and tour Monticello. What a gorgeous place! It was very cool to look around and learn more about Thomas Jefferson the president, inventor, and foodie (vanilla ice cream and macaroni and cheese – need I say more?!!) Kristin, Sabrina, and I were definitely busy throughout the entire weekend – from hiking around Virginia to touring around UVA, dining at Michie’s Tavern, making FABULOUS cheese and chocolate fondue for a girls night in, and spending the day at Busch Gardens and watching the fireworks. We briefly got to see Williamsburg before heading out to the amusement park. There were definitely some amazing roller coasters there – I even went on the Griffin three times – all I can say is – WOW! The end of the day was spent watching fireworks and singing patriotic songs – what a fabulous way to spend the Fourth of July! Happy Birthday America!!!
Hope you all are having a wonderful and fabulous day!
Best Wishes,
Karen
