Whenever you hear the name Bobby Knight, you think– Indiana Basketball? BB Coach? How about a coach that is known for throwing chairs? Hmmm. Knight was back in the news today when the basketball coach now at Texas Tech grabbed the chin of basketball player Michael Prince during the game against Gardner-Webb.
What was the response of Texas Tech? The athletic director said that Knight “did not do anything wrong.” Knight responded today saying “I was trying to help a kid and I think I did.” Okay, if that is what he calls helping, well– I guess I’ll never ask for his help! Knight even goes on in the same ESPN article if the exact situation happened again, he’d do it again! Wow–can we say that this situation is a PR Nightmare?

If you look at the pictures and videos taken from the game, it clearly shows that Knight was grabbing Prince’s chin– and in my opinion, that’s over the top. It’s not exactly good PR for both Knight and Texas Tech with this situation. It was also reported that Knight only answered one question at a press conference after the basketball game before.
There will always be coaches that feel that they can get away with anything if they bring in the money and fans to a university. Knight has been known for a long time for doing this type of thing– and it needs to stop. No coach has a right to treat their athletes like Knight has done for far too long.
