Captain Kristin Graham (Nov 2008)

Captain Kristin Graham (Nov 2008)

The holidays are very special for the Freberg family.  It is a time where we all get together to celebrate Christmas and each other.  However this Christmas, we are missing a key member in our family– Kristin.  Kristin is serving in her second tour with the Army in Iraq, and we miss her very much.  Kristin is one of the bravest, intelligent, and sweetest people that I know, and I am very lucky to have her as my sister.  So, I would like to dedicate this post as a tribute to Kristin. 🙂  Here it is:

K is for Kindness.  Kristin has always gone out of her way to show people that she cares about them.  Some of the fondest memories that I have growing up with Kris is the fact that she helped me make cookies.  She took the time to teach me that there are certain things that have to be included to make the “perfect cookie” like having of course the best chocolate and mixing up different chips to go in the cookies. 🙂  There were many times where we actually had more of the cookie dough than cookies. 🙂

R is for Respect. Kristin is very respectful to others– to family to friends and to her soldiers.  She is definitely a great leader and is so by setting an example by treating others like how she would like to be treated.

I is for Intelligence. I always admired Kristin for her intelligence.  She did so well in school and her writing is absolutely fabulous!  There would be assignments and classes where I would have to work my bahooty off and these classes would come naturally to Kris.  She is a smart cookie! 😀

S is for Strength. Kristin is a very strong person– both physically and mentally.  I remember one vacation Kristin said that she wanted to go out and workout together, and I am like– cool!  This should be fun!  Well, Kristin taught me a workout that was based on what the Navy Seals did.  YIKES!  Yeah, I was pretty beat after that. 🙂  Kristin also showed her strength this past summer when we were in China at the Great Wall.  Kristin motored on up the million stairs up to the top of the Great Wall, and I was, well– it took me a little longer to get up, but it was a great workout! 🙂

T is for fabulous Travel buddy. Kris and I got the chance to be travel buddies this past summer when we went to Beijing, China.  We had an absolute BLAST!!  We saw basically everything– from climbing the Great Wall to the Summer Palace to the Forbidden City– we were everywhere!  It was fun looking around and pointing out neat things and sharing that experience with someone.  Kristin and I are planning on another trip when she gets back from Iraq, and it looks like it’s going to be either in Brazil or Argentina.  Lots of fun!

I is for Incredibly Honorable. Kristin is one of the most honorable people that I know.  She is responsible, honest, caring, and dedicated to her work, family, and friends.  She is there to lend a helping hand and is very reliable.  Kristin is someone that you would want on your side.

N is for Nice. Kristin is a very nice person.  I remember she was very protective of me when I was growing up when we were walking to elementary school together, or whether it was taking the time to play games with me or cooking, or just hanging out.

So this is my dedication and holiday tribute to my wonderful, brave, courageous, and fabulous sister Kristin.  We are so very proud of you Kris and thank you with all of our hearts that you are bravely protecting us and our wonderful country.  We are going to celebrate your safe return with complete IBWM style! 🙂 Love you forever Kris, and God Bless you and the men and women proudly serving in the armed forces. 🙂

Merry Christmas!

Karen 🙂
