It was such an honor for me to be among a select number of student-athletes at the University of Southern California to be recognized as a David X. Marks Foundation Scholar-Athlete. From all of the different sports at USC, about 50 were honored, and five were from track and field. The track and field athletes that were honored at this event included Kate, Michelle, Colin, Matthew, and me.
Parents, friends, and other family members were invited to attend a luncheon hosted by the David X. Marks Foundation at the new Galen Center. For the luncheon, we had great tomato soup for an appetizer, roast beef and a salad for our main course, and a beautiful strawberry and fruit angel cake for dessert. It was fantastic! I am sure that Jenny Craig will understand. 🙂
Each student-athlete got a plaque for their athletic and academic accomplishments, along with a picture with USC Athletic Director and Heisman Trophy Winner Mike Garrett and USC Chief Financial Officer / Senior Vice President of the University Dennis Dougherty. Very cool! 🙂 My mom is a big fan of Mike Garrett, and even has a football with his autograph! 🙂
It was a wonderful time for me, and what a great way to celebrate the past year. 🙂
Fight on! 🙂
