Being on Jenny Craig has been good in so many ways for me. I have lost nearly 50 lbs since November, and trust me–I have lost weight in the past, and it hasn’t been this easy. Of course I am hungry at times and dream about the good ole’ days when I had… steak… sigh! 🙂

But– I would say that there is something that I miss more. What is it? No– it isn’t carrying around a 50 lb. plate on my back 24/7. Is it throwing? Well– I miss a lot of aspects of being a track and field athlete– but that isn’t it.

This might shock you, but it is……

Cooking!

I recently cooked some goodies (cookies and mudbars) and people asked me– you actually MADE this, Karen? And I replied “Why yes, I love to cook!” You would think that I had said something totally outrageous and scandalous by the reactions that I got. What is troubling to me is the fact that people today don’t cook– but rely on either having someone else cook for them, or they get takeout or fast food. Yikes! No wonder we have an obesity problem today!

I believe that cooking is really fun, but special in many ways. If you can cook something from scratch and people really enjoy it– it is so rewarding! 🙂 And– if you are on a diet like me– it’s therapy because at least someone else is enjoying the food! 🙂 Plus– you know what is EXACTLY is in your food– and you can make healthy choices. Shocking isn’t it? 🙂  What has been the reaction of making great goodies? I am already getting asked when I am going to make my next batch of mudbars. 🙂 Oh well– that is a good thing to have!

In closing– if you want to learn how to cook– get a good cookbook. Better Homes & Gardens has a great web site with a ton of recipes online. it’s really easy to follow a recipe, and all it takes is practice. 🙂

Cooking is fun!!!!
