With all new technology, there seems to be the individuals that seem to be up to the latest trends and are considered to be innovators, and then there are others that appear to take some time to warm up to the idea of new ways to communicate and interact with others.

This has definitely happened when it has come to social media, especially getting on board with Facebook and Twitter and other sites.  According to the recent Pew Research Center reports on social media, about 19 percent of the American population updates their statuses on Facebook, Twitter, and other social media sites.  The same report says that the average age of these individuals online is 31 years old. Here are some more demographics of a person on Twitter according to the Pew Research Center.

Based on this, you would assume that it would be the younger generation of professionals that would be teaching the more traditional media focused professionals how to use social media.  However, this was quite the opposite in my household.  I would consider my family to be very tech savvy – we have been active online and managing our own web sites since 1995.  It was actually Mom and Dad that encouraged me to join Facebook a few years ago! 🙂  I would definitely consider my family to be one with technology and innovators.

We are living in an age where sharing knowledge and interacting with others is key to establishing long term relationships and proactive reputations.  Technology is fun – and if we are willing to learn and grow as human beings and be life long learners – we will always be current and up-to-date with what is going on.  We are indeed living in a very exciting time with the technology continually evolving.  There are times where it seems to be changing at warp speed, but that is why we have to stay on top of it.

Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
