Another week getting started means another #ProudProf student feature! The next former student I would like to feature is one of the most driven and hard working students I have had, and one who has truly become legendary among my students for my social media class. This former student (and amazing social media and sports professionals), is Lizelle Lauron, who is a social media coordinator for the Dallas Mavericks.

Lizelle was in my very first social media class back in Spring 2013 here at the University of Louisville (amazed it’s been two years!), and she was one of the most driven and hard working students I have had. I remember Lizelle coming to chat with me early on with her game plan for how she would work and achieve her goals – from taking certain classes, getting certain internships, and then achieving her dream job working in professional athletics in social media. This was impressive to see, but it was nothing like seeing Lizelle excel in and out of the classroom.

Lizelle was the team leader for her social media campaign proposal team for UofL Athletics, which they proposed a great plan in place for the UofL Football team and Teddy Bridgewater (our quarterback at the time). While also taking this class, Lizelle had a chance to implement some of these ideas while doing her internship with the social media team for UofL Athletics as well.

After graduation, Lizelle moved to Dallas where she was interning with the Dallas Mavericks, and ultimately became their social media coordinator a few months later. I couldn’t have been happier for Lizelle – this was her dream position! Three years later, she is still excelling and raising the bar on social media for the team.

Since Lizelle was in my class, she’s been a must have to speak to my students via Skype and gave a great presentation. Her first talk actually took place in the Dallas Mavericks locker room (we had a chance to get a virtual tour there!) and it was a huge hit. Lizelle was super generous with her time and insight to my class, and I greatly appreciate this. To this day, many of my students come in and say they want to be like Lizelle and work in the sports and social media field.

In addition, Lizelle is a wonderful person. We’ve had a chance to catch up and chat about social media trends over the years and I am truly inspired for her dedication and work ethic. She is truly one of the most driven and hard working professionals I know out there – for me as a professor, this is what inspires me to do the best I can and it is due to individuals like Lizelle.

We are all very proud of you here at the University of Louisville, Lizelle, but I am truly a #ProudProf for what you are doing in the sports and social media field, but also how you are inspiring and mentoring future professionals and students in this area. Thank you!

Hope you all have a great day!

Best Wishes,
