Little did I know I would get totally into the whole process of event planning – especially for when it comes to social media.  But, I have thoroughly enjoyed the process and excitement it brings! 🙂 Our family is celebrating a very big event in the next couple of days – Kristin is getting married to Scott in Orlando at the Walt DisneyWorld Resort.

From the bachelorette party to reception dinner to the main event – social media will play a significant role.  Well, I did however promise my sister I will not be tweeting during the ceremony or taking pictures at that time – there is definitely a place and time for social media. 🙂 However, there are many ways people can join in with the celebrations and follow what we are all doing over the next couple of weeks.  Here is what we are doing:

  • Facebook:  Billy (Scott’s Best Man) did a great job in setting up a Facebook Group letting us all know about updates, sharing pictures, and memories and well wishes for the happy couple.  Very interactive and community building!
  • YouTube:  Billy also initiated a move to allow people to share well wishes to both Kristin and Scott for their upcoming marriage by submitting videos.
  • Twitter:  We do have an official hashtag for the wedding for those who are active on social media – they can see updates and pictures via Instagram with this particular hashtag.  The official hashtag is #kandssalingwedding.
  • Blogs:  Kristin has a great blog where she has discussed all of the elements of the wedding in detail – so you can see what to expect for the wedding!
  • Storify:  We wanted to be able to share most of of the conversations via social media in a centralized location, so we created a Storify for the evening.
So, all that is needed now is the preparation for the event as well! The bridesmaids and everyone will be heading down to Florida over the next couple of days – so there is a lot of great and exciting things to look forward to. 🙂 I am super happy for both Kristin and Scott – yay!! 🙂
Hope you all are having a great day!
Best Wishes,
Karen
