Consulting in Social Media

Here is what I am reading today:

“The people who hired us wanted to build awareness for the corn-powered fuel and educate Americans on its benefits. It proved to be a challenge. Outside of the Midwest—where corn is hauled to ethanol processing plants and turned in to pure alcohol—it did not have much name recognition”

“T-Mobile Spain, aiming to leverage the popularity of the game, created this to connect the love of Angry Birds to it’s entire smart phone product range, and with a life sized installation, real exploding pigs and about 5 million views in a week… I guess they’ve done an alright job!”

“The software is being adapted for the Apple phones from an existing app used by the BBC and is due to be in use within around a month.”

“Last weekend, McDonald’s was the victim of an internet hoax that reverberated through social networks, especially Twitter. An old, false photo recirculated that suggested a McDonald’s corporate policy discriminatory to African-American customers. The photo spread like wildfire. People took to Twitter, outraged; “Seriously McDonalds” was a trending topic on Twitter on Sunday and into Monday, and McDonalds’ social media team was pressed into emergency service trying to put out the fire.”

“The USC track and field program is sad to announce that Sharlene Allice, wife of Director of Track and Field Ron Allice, has succumbed to cancer today (June 17) after a lengthy battle.”

“Social media is making it easier to find the right jobs, and for you to connect to the right people that can help you get those jobs. Many job seekers are still using traditional job search methods that are yielding poor results. The New York Post reported that one woman applied for more than one thousand jobs over 99 weeks, getting only two interviews. Nearly one in three job seekers has been out of work for more than a year, and the average job seeker gives up after five months.”

“If you’re thinking about implementing social media into your organization’s marketing plan, here are 10 things to keep in mind as you’re developing your strategy.”
