There are business cards, and then there are business cards that you look at and say – wow!  This is absolutely fabulous!  Most of the time, I have seen traditional business cards that have the same information and really doesn’t showcase the overall personality or reputation of the individual that was giving out the business cards.  I felt that although the people were often very interesting, their cards did not reflect who they were.

My new fabulous business card with QR Codes for my blog and CV!

So, what are some tips in creating a memorable, innovative, and fabulous business card?  Well, there are several things that you can do to makle it one that people remember and go back to for future reference.  Here are a few thoughts on designing your own business card:

  • Your business card is a first impressions thing. If people like your card, they’ll get to know you better.  People do want to see certain information about yourself on your business card, but if it is presented in a visually appealing manner that is professional and creative, they will want to learn more about you.
  • It is a mini ‘resume’. This is your chance to tell people who you are, your interests and what you are all about. With QR codes on the back, you can provide links to both your resume ( or vita) and your blog or web site.  More people are getting involved with mobile technology, and integrating a QR Code for your CV or personal website where people could go to find out more about you – that is great.  Plus, it looks very cool! 🙂
  • You can control your privacy. Provide your email, but you can decide who you give your phone number.  By taking the time to hand write your phone number to specific contacts, that shows that they are in a select few and exclusive group that has your phone number.
  • If a picture is worth a thousand words and you want to be remembered, then having a smiling photo of yourself is a good start.
  • List the social media you frequent, so people know where to look you up.  Whether it is Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, you need to acknowledge which sites you are on.  Employers are going to search for you anyway online either through Google, Bing, or Samepoint – but you want to acknowledge where people can find you on these various social media sites.

In summary, having a creative and visually innovative card that showcases your personality in a professional manner will help you networking among other business professionals as well as being a useful tool for others to find out more about you.  Integrating the latest technology (QR Codes) while sharing information about yourself (ex. contact information, social networking sites, etc) also is important to include in your business cards.  You want to separate yourself from the rest of the professionals out there – and this is a strategic way to do it. 🙂

Hope you all are having a wonderful day.

Best Wishes,
