It is not every day that you are in a book. 🙂 A few years ago, I had the pleasure to correspond with Nancy Kennedy for her upcoming weight loss book she was writing.  My weight loss journey began when I was just finished with my track career at USC and realized that I needed to make some changes.  The days of having steak every night and considering a lap to be long distance were over.  One day in October 2006, I decided that the best thing to do was to join Jenny Craig, and set up my first appointment where I weighed in at 285 lbs.  This was by far not my heaviest ever in  my life (I was around 350-360 lbs in 1999-2000 in high school), but I knew that I needed a lifestyle change.

So, I went all out on the JC program and the rest is history!  I have been successful in losing my weight and this November, it will be five years since I have been on the program.  Mom, Dad, Kristin, and I are all on JC and have seen a great I have never felt better or had as much energy as I do know.  I am taking exercise classes regularly and feel more active, which is what I was looking for.  My diet has drastically changed, but for the better.  I am able to wear clothes and shoes that I had only dreamed about before.  My journey with Jenny Craig continues and I have my weight loss goals in mind and how I want to live a healthy lifestyle – it all comes down to taking one day at a time and keeping your eyes on the prize. 🙂 My family and I still continue to like to make special meals and desserts (what can I say, we are a family of foodies!).

Getting back to Nancy, I had a chance to talk with her and she wrote a very nice blog post about my story on her website.  Now, she has translated these stories in a book that is currently available on Amazon.  I am every excited to read Nancy’s book and I wish her all the very best! Congratulations again, Nancy! 🙂

Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
