Since the Reputation Institute Conference is officially over, it is time for Kristin and I to play tourist and see the sites of Rio de Janeiro.  In typical Freberg ways, we thought that it would be best to take a few days after the conference to see what it was like to live in Brazil, and what were some of the main places that we needed to see.

Kristin did an excellent job in organizing the tours for us, and we first began with a Jeep tour through the Tijuca Forest.  It is not a rain forest, but what is called an Atlantic forest, and it is right in the middle of Rio de Janeiro.  Our jeep tour guide picked us up from the hotel, and we were on our way.  We drove and hiked our way through the forest to see little animals, amazing waterfalls, and see the impact of the recent landslides that impacted the city only a few months ago.  However, the views that we saw during this tour were absolutely amazing!

UPDATE: Day 6 Pictures!

After a quick lunch, we then headed off to our next tour, and it was to see the Christ Redeemer.  It was under construction to repair the statue for weather damage – they do this ever ten years.  It was definitely an adventure to get up to see the Christ Redeemer – our van rides almost felt like roller coasters!  Kristin and I were both thinking about how similar the driving in Rio is to what we saw a few years ago in Beijing.

After making three car changes, we finally made it up to see the Christ Redeemer.  In addition, in true Freberg fashion – we had to do the annual international Jenny Craig Complete Start picture!  So now, Jenny Craig has been to Brazil!

So, what is next?  Well, we have another full day in Rio de Janeiro before we head to Boston for the APS Conference.  We are going to go on a island tour tomorrow, so that will be a lot of fun!  Stay tuned for more pictures! 🙂 Hope you all are having a great day!

Best Wishes,

Karen
