Even with school starting, this semester is going to be a busy yet fabulous one. This semester, in between working on my dissertation, teaching both for University of Tennessee and West Virginia for the IMC Master’s Program, and applying for jobs, I am also assisting in helping set up the website and online registration for PR Day 2010.
Two years ago, I had the opportunity as part of my assistantship for my second year in the PhD program to work on PR Day, which is a one-day seminar sponsored by the School of Advertising and Public Relations at the University of Tennessee that will allow attendees to learn more about the field from leading professionals and researchers in Public Relations in specific areas in Public Relations. In 2008, PR Day was focused on Crisis Communications, wheras this year the theme is “Communicating Credibility: Challenges and Opportunities in Social Media, Political, Health, and Crisis Communication.”
PR Day 2010 will be held at the Carolyn P. Brown Memorial University Center at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Friday, November 12th from 8:30 am – 1:30 pm. The event is starting to have its own social media presence already for the event. So far, PR Day 2010 has its own website, online registration site on Eventbrite, and a Tumblr site dedicated to PR Day 2010 for attendees, participants, and others to share blog posts, pictures, and videos related to PR Day 2010. The hashtag as well for those who would like to Twitter about PR Day and would like to check-in during the event on Foursquare is #prday10.
We are continuing to update the website and online registration site and provide more information about PR Day 2010. So – make sure that you save the date for PR Day 2010 and we hope to see you all there! 🙂
Hope you all are having a great day!
Best Wishes,
Karen
