The Prison that held Nelson Madela for so many years

I had an interesting and very educational opportunity in visiting Robben Island (‘Island of the Seals’ in Afrikaans). This is the prison that held Nelson Mandella for so many years.

Here is my pictorial essay.

A coach that will truly be missed: Coach Paul Turner of Harvard

Filed under: Sports,Track and Field — Karen @ 5:23 am

There are many coaches out there that want the best for an athlete in track, but there are few that want the best for them after track– and Coach Paul Turner of Harvard was one of these coaches.

Coach Paul Turner and me at the NCAA Regionals in Gainesville!

On a sad note,  I just received word that Paul Turner, the throws coach at Harvard, has recently passed away.

Coach Turner recruited me in high school, and even though I did not attend Harvard, he always supported me and wanted the best for me– both in track and field, and in life.  I would see him at various track meets– from regionals to the NCAAs– he always was cheerful, energetic, and encouraging.

Coach Turner will truly be missed.

Best Wishes,

SINCE 1995
